Honeoye Falls is a village inside the town of Mendon in Monroe County, with 2,706 residents at the 2020 census and 1,293 households on 2.59 square miles. It grew up beside a small waterfall on Honeoye Creek, which starts at Honeoye Lake about 13 miles to the south and later joins the Genesee River. Zebulon Norton bought 1,820 acres here in 1791 at twelve and a half cents an acre and built a grist mill and sawmill, so the settlement was first called Norton Mills. Hiram Finch added the Lower Mill in 1827, and that building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

Route 65 runs through the village center along Ontario Street and North Main Street. The Honeoye Falls Village Historic District covers 217 properties across 130 acres around the junction of Main, Monroe and Ontario streets, with commercial buildings dating from about 1825 to about 1940 alongside houses, churches and civic buildings. St. John's Episcopal Church and the post office are also listed sites. The Mendon town hall is in the village at 16 West Main Street. The Honeoye Falls-Lima Central School District has its senior high, middle and intermediate schools within the village, and the mascot is the Cougar. The median age is just under 44, and 43.5 percent of adults hold a bachelor's degree or higher.

Because the village core dates from the mill era, many homes here are older two-story houses on compact village lots, often with narrow staircases, porches and detached garages. Newer streets sit outside the historic district. Route 65 links the village north to Route 96 and southeast to US Route 20, the roads that connect it to the wider region. Parking on Main Street can be tight, so a move often involves carrying boxes up a driveway or across a sidewalk to the door.
