Churchville is a village in the town of Riga, in western Monroe County, where Routes 33 and 36 meet. The 2020 census counted 2,091 residents, up from 1,961 in 2010 and from just 755 in 1950. Samuel Church bought the land in 1806, the Tonawanda Railroad reached the settlement in 1837, and the village was incorporated on September 21, 1852. Black Creek, a tributary of the Genesee River, flows from west to east through the middle of the village. Riga itself, formed in 1809, remains a farming town of about 5,586 people, with the hamlet of Riga Center on Route 33A.
The village is compact, about 1.2 square miles. Route 33 leads northeast to North Chili and Route 36 runs north toward Spencerport. Interstate 490 is close by, running northeast about 16 miles to downtown Rochester and southwest about 6 miles to the Thruway. Churchville Park and its golf course sit just north of the village near Hutton Circle and Kendall Road, and the village website points to Community Memorial Park, the West Shore Trail and the Churchville Dam on Black Creek. The village office is at 23 East Buffalo Street. Schools belong to the Churchville-Chili Central School District. Like Spencerport and Fairport, Churchville runs its own low-cost municipal electric service.
The village describes its streets as lined with many Victorian homes, old-growth trees and long stretches of sidewalk with flower boxes and benches. The 2020 census counted 1,009 housing units with a 3.5 percent vacancy rate, and half of all households were married couples. The median age of 48.3 is higher than in most nearby villages, with 21.2 percent of residents aged 65 or older, so some moves here are older residents leaving a big Victorian for something smaller. Those houses have full staircases, attics and basements that fill up over decades. A stack of rigid totes makes it easier to sort a large old house room by room, and there is nothing to break down or haul to the curb afterwards.
All of it, including Churchville Village, Riga, Churchville Park, Buffalo Road and Black Creek. Zip code 14428.

Yes. People search for plastic moving boxes, moving bins, moving crates and reusable moving boxes, and they all mean the same thing: a sturdy 27 x 17 x 12 inch container with an attached lid that stacks and rolls. We call them totes.
